North Americans in general are not interested in interesting bikes.
Every automaker makes their wares crappier in order to sell them here. We're not interested in quality style, efficiency, handling, etc. Just drop the price to the point where manufacturers can't make a quality product, and it has to be "cool". The pursuit of cool makes suburban 40-somethings buy Harley clones in their millions, along with all the gear to make them look like a bad ass biker. People look at me with disgust when I explain that my bike is relatively quiet because I actually paid money for a silencer insert for my muffler. I'm also in the minority because I ride an interesting bike that I actually did more than bolt chrome accessories to. Also I wear protective gear. Indian Larry might have been "cool", but he died because he refused to wear a helmet. I'd rather live after a low speed collision than be these peoples version of "cool".
Wow, something was pent up there lol.
